Which African Rapper Do You Think Would’ve Easily Won A Grammy If He/She Was American?
The Grammy Award is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievement in the music industry.
The trophy depicts a gilded gramophone. The Grammys are the first of the Big Three networks’ major music awards held annually.
The 63rd Annual Grammys, which took place in Los Angeles, California, on 14 March was one to remember for Africa as the Nigerian music sensation Burna Boy bagged a Grammy, the first for a Nigerian as a solo artist.
Also, UK-based Ghanaian Singer, Fuse ODG, has made history as the first Ghanaian musician to win the prestigious Grammy Award. Born, Nana Richard Abiona, Fuse won the award for cowriting Ed Sheeran’s ‘Divide’ album which won ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ at the 2018 Grammy Awards
Mind you, the two artists above, are not the first to win the Grammy. But we don’t think talking about that is necessary, as the subject matter is about rappers and not singers.
No African Rapper had won the Grammy despite their efforts. What could be the reason? Racism? Because they are not American?
Let’s hear from you all.
