Where Is Ycee? Is His Career Over Already?

Where Is Ycee? Is His Career Over Already?. … What comes to your mind when you hear the name Ycee?

I’ll take a guess. You either remember the guy that came on the scene in 2015 and did one of the best rap singles of the year, “Jagaban” alongside Olamide.

Or, you remember the guy that did the biggest summer song of the year 2017, “Juice” with Maleek Berry. Unfortunately, that’s all anyone can remember about him.

It’s been four years since his major moment in the industry, and that’s all Ycee is. A throwback. So sad, but how did he get here? He had potential, he had the talent, everyone loved him. What happened then?

Recall that the youngster first penetrated the scene and got into the mainstream in 2015 under Tinny Entertainment, with the hit single “Omo Ahaji.” He was a good singer and rapper. He still is, actually.

By 2017, when he put out his first project, an EP called “The First Wave,” he was one of the most promising talents in the industry.

In fact, he was on the radar of international outfits like Sony Music, alongside guys like WizKid, Davido, and Tekno. That was how big he was.

His EP had at least three hits, including the smash “Juice” and his collab with Reekado Banks, “Link Up.”

Fast forward to 2021, he’s a forgotten rap star who can’t make a hit single anymore. And, that is not for the lack of trying. Ycee hasn’t stopped releasing new music, no.

He’s still doing his best to be consistent on the scene, but the music just isn’t clicking anymore.

His last major release was his debut album, “Ycee Vs Zaheer” released in 2019. Although the 15-track received generally favorable reviews, not one hit song came from that album.

What’s left for Ycee to try now, so he can get himself back into the mainstream? Perhaps another link up with Olamide will give him the boost he needs, who knows.
