Reekado Banks’ “Ozumba Mbadiwe” Has The Guy Standing Up Tall, For Himself!

Reekado Banks’ newest number is a brilliant combination of a feel-good vibe, a sketchy message, and a pure exhibition of artistic excellence.

Ozumba Mbadiwe” is maybe Reekado’s 20th single since his debut, “Spotlight” hit the stores in 2016. In 2016, he was a wunderkind, a prodigy, and a protege of one of the most influential music execs.

In 2021, however, he is just another struggling artist who probably deserves more hype than he’s ever gonna get. We know this, and he knows this too. In fact, in the years since his debut, he has seen more ‘disrespect’ probably than any of his peers.

Around this time last year, he was a victim of a Wizkid outburst that crippled his collaboration and association with the Grammy-winning artist. But because it’s just Reekado, people laughed and moved on.

Before that, he was a victim of Burna Boy‘s savagery when the “Ye” singer publicly remarked that Reekado wasn’t a worthy contender for him in the industry. On a normal day, something like that would have been viewed from the POV of Burna Boy being rude and proud. But because it’s just Reekado

. Again, we all laughed and moved on. Honestly, it will be hard not to feel disrespected, as Reekado Banks. But the guy is resilient.

Even without Wizkid, ’s co-sign, he went on to push his EP. Of course, it was like nobody was paying attention. But that wouldn’t stop him from continuing to do his thing.

His tumultuous experiences, the turbulence, the rise, the fall, the struggle, and the resilience that has kept him going anyway is what is embodied in “Ozumba Mbadiwe.”

The idea is simple. Everything may be crazy, things may be tough, but every day you’ll find him on the move. Beyond the percussions, beyond the addictive elements on the hook, or the apparent shot he took at Burna Boy, “Ozumba Mbadiwe” shines as a feel-good track with all the right things in the right places.
