The Best Thing That Happened To Afropop This Year Is Psquare’s Reunion
On the 17th of November 2021, the Nigerian social media space went awash with the cheery news of the sudden reunion of the music duo, Paul and Peter of the Psquare musical group.
The music duo broke up about four years ago (2017) and decided to go solo with their careers over issues many have described as ‘irreconcilable differences.’ But the good news is that they are back for good.
Their very first concert together went down on Saturday, December 25 at the popular Eko Convention Centre and it was indeed a fun-filled night for attendees.
Many who gathered to watch the brothers perform had not seen them together for so long and it brought back a strong feeling of nostalgia to see them united through music again.
One of the highlights of the night was the moment one of the brothers backed by the second revealed the man who made their reunion possible. Tony Elumelu is the one behind the reunion.
Tony Elumelu is a Nigerian businessman and in the four and half years the singers were apart, he worked tirelessly to bring them back together. The brothers thanked him on stage and Paul apologized for disappointing Tony in those years they were apart.
Personally, I think and believe that their reunion is the best thing that happened to Afropop and the Nigerian music industry this year, is Psquare’s reunion.
Don’t you think so too?
